Graphology goes back to Camillo Baldi, an Italian educator and physician, who wrote a treatise in 1625, which explores the relationship between handwriting and personality. A hundred years later in Paris, Abbe Jean-Hippolyte Michon published papers on his system of handwriting analysis. He coined the term “graphology” to describe this study. This term and his method became widely known and accepted. He was the founder of the Societe Francais de Graphologie, a leading institute that still exists today.
