Catalyst

Every single one of us is God’s child and instrument in the world and since  the Universe moves in mysterious ways, it does not surprise me that I would be sent a World Class Imposter to form a  partnership with.

Yesterday a man that I know as Fred Brito called out for my help. Fred admittedly is a first class Imposter, having held something like 35 CEO jobs some of them for 3-5 years including the CEO of the RED Cross where he was able to raise 6 million dollars for the victims. Wherever Fred went, he tried to make things better and he did. Armed with a GED education and some smarts, Fred, a non violent offender was able to pull of his grand impersonations and live comfortably on his 6 figure incomes. No need to steal nor to go back to prison.
So, Why did he do it? Fred would say he was forced to do it. He couldn’t get a job because of his prison record so once that became clear, he fabricated a background for himself that didn’t include a stint in prison.

Am I condoning what he did? NO, but I do understand it. I was once employed by  the John Howard Agency and my job was to find prisoners jobs. Now the kicker was  that would ONLY be eligible for a parole once they got said job. Talk about impossible!!  Well it’s a good thing that I specialize in impossible and am unstoppable or those poor souls wouldn’t have stood a chance. However, I am losing my point here.
Fred called out for help yesterday whem authorities from  (Adult Protective Services) muscled their way into his home, after receiving a call from a physical therapist who was treating his father Frank M. Esparza, Step father to Fred Brito. Fred’s dad who has Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and has been looked after by his son, Fred, for over 10 years. This woman who had been coming to their home for the past  five weeks found out about Fred’s checkered past during an Internet search, and that’s when she felt it was her duty to call ADS, and have Mr. Esparza removed from the home because suddenly Fred was dangerous to him.
Now, some of you might say that Frankie is gullible because of my generous nature and loving heart. While there may be some truth to this, I have always preferred to use my intuition and quantum evidence to figure out the landscape of someone’s soul and intentions towards me, rather than judge them upon their past history.

I don’t believe in coincidence and so if I were to ask myself Why would I befriend a con man, an ex inmate of the California penal system, my answer is easy. I did it because of the potential for greater good.

You see, even if I am being Conned by the Con, the work Fred and I  have chosen to do together serves the purpose for the greater good. Even if my partner turns out to be a first class swindler and lied to me, it doesn’t matter. I know what MY intentions are and I also know that Fair is Fair.

I believe that you should only be punished for the same crime ONCE!  Once that punishment has taken place, it needs to STOP!!!
You don’t continue to spank your child day after day, once you have already spanked him for touching the hot stove do you? Once was enough. After you let your child out from his " Time out" you don’t put him back there unless he misbehaves again. (a whole other topic). The point is this, once a felon has paid his dues to society , gone to jail for his appointed time, repented or not for his lack of judgement, either to himself , his parole board, or his maker, it doesn’t matter. Who are we to continue to act as their JUDGE and JURY once they are released?

Don’t kid yourself if you don’t think that is true. Need a place to live? Ok, sure, but we require a background check. Need a Job? No problem, but we require a background check. So what are these reformed citizens supposed to do when no one will give them a place to live or a job? Mazelow speaks about our basic hierarchy of needs. The 3 biggies are food, shelter and security. Is it any wonder then that these folks find themselves going back to the big house to get their 3 squares and a bed? What would you do in their case?

It costs tax payers approximately $50,000 per year to keep an inmate in prison. Doesn’t it make sense to spend that money on programs where they can re-enter society and pay their own way. The ONLY way that can happen is if we let them live like anyone else.

Of course I understand that you don’t want a violent felon or a rapist living in your neighborhood without knowing about it, but what about the non violent offender? Let’s say a guy or girl who stole food because their family was hungry or they had to steal money because their mother was undergoing Cancer Treatments and it was more important to them that she live than they go to jail?

Into each of our lives with come a Catalyst. Someone who will spark an  Opportunity for you to make the world ( even your own world) a better place. It is then up to you to recognize this opportunity and take Action. Do you see how it works?

CATALYST, OPPORTUNITY, ACTION

This is how to make Lemonade out of Lemons. This is how we look lovingly at the souls who come into our orbit and ask, what would love do now?

I have been spreading the seeds for a compassionate consciousness for quite some time. I am beginning to see the fruits of my labour. I have an incredible network of friends and associates who are awake, alive and conscious and the list grows daily.

We are all light and love at our core. Some of us have chosen to live a different experience so that they might know what those emotions feel like and learn from them, but as my friend Hans Christian King says, we are all baby angels walking on earth, waiting to become BIG ones when we leave here.

So with this in mind, I ask you to think about growing the light brighter for yourself and the world in 2009. You will know how to do it when the time comes.

Who in your life is THE CATALYST

    Good post Frankie.

I use to be President of the St. Leonards’ Society on London ON. I quicly learned how incongruent the criminal justice system is.

It has two purposes…. one to rehabilitate… the other to punish…. two diametrically opposed purposes.

For me the Catalyst to the organization was the Executive Director we hired. As a former Ontario Parole officer he truly understood the sytem, but unlike many of his collegues that worked in the provincial or federal correctional system understood the need for a concruent approach to the successful integration of the offender back into society.

Congruence her is the key word. From my philisopical point of view you can only be travelling in 3 directions. Convergence, (Implodes) Divergence (Disintegrates) and Congruence (Lines of integrity) supports itself to it’s destination!
