It's amazing how many people recently have been trying to understand why their relationships aren't successful..

Whenever anyone asks me 'why can't they meet someone nice to fall in love with'?'. I have to answer back, " you tell me!"

Generally speaking we are in control of our destiny…a least the bits we can control. I always encourage anyone to put themselves up to the Mirror test.

Mirror Mirror on the wall.. there's nothing wrong with me at all.. While this smacks of a wonderful self esteem, there is also a hidden flavor of narcissim, I don't have to change they do and the blame game.. it's never my fault.

What kind of vibes DO YOU give off. Are you friendly, do you smile when you meet people, are you timely, generous and kind? Are you easy to talk to or are you shy and reserved? Perhaps you belong to the other garden variety of  'seek'er" who beleives that they are great as they are..and 'if they don't like her -too bad, I'm comfortable and not changing.. Guess what else isn't changing- the type of men she meets.. Well honey, you can be comfortable all my yourself. , it's your perogative,  but if you were hoping to meet Mr. Right or even Mr. Right Now, even a bit of effort on your part means there will be equal measure to be had on the other side,,that means by upping your Game, Mr. Right is also upping his.

The most important relationship axiom we all need to know and understand is that THE most important relationship we have in life, is the relationship  we have is with ourselves.

I know you have heard this before but did you really 'get' it? If you can 't love yourself, like yourself, stand to be yourself, be happy with your own company then you will NEVER EVER EVER, be happy with someone else.
 

Why you ask? Well it might take a 6 months or 4 years, but eventually the real you will surface. and your unhappiness will begin to create small  fissures in your relationship. If left unchecked, it will grow and crack, until you find that you and your partner are fighting over silly things and bringing drama into a perfectly lovely relationship. Your partner will wonder who is this person you have become because its not the happy go lucky, confident creature they first fell in love with.

Those who don't love themselves in a healthy way, tend to make bad choices for themselves. They stay in relationships that are bad for them, because they don't believe that anyone else might love them, or they find themselves in wonderful relationship and then become jealous of their partner's happiness, if it doesn't centre from or come from them.

Truth is, if we look to others for the validation we need from ourselves, we will always feel we are lacking in some way, shape or form. Our relationships take on a pattern of self sabotage that can be clearly tracked time after time.

So, how do you STOP the cycle and get off the merry-go-round? Great question!

Begin to do the inner work. Find out who you are and what makes you tick. Think back over past relationships. How did they start? How did they end? Were the men alike in some way? Were they nice at first but then became mean? Did they cheat on you? Were they wonderful to you and you treated them like crap? Find your pattern and learn from it.

Listen to your inner conversations, and really hear what is being said. Whose voice do you hear? Is it a mothers or past boyfriends? Find out who is really running the ship of you.

Write down the wonderful things about you. Write down the things about you that need changing.  If the CHANGE list is bigger than the LIFE list, then you KNOW you have a problem that needs to be addressed.

Many women have body image problems, but those are really cosmetic and while important, NOT the MOST important part of self love.

Profiles can really make or break how many responses a man or women will get from the opposite sex. It is important when you write a profile that the opposite sex be able to 'see' themselves as the person you are describing you are looking for.

Too many men say things like " I want a gorgeous' woman. Well, first of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but secondly, women are notorious for low self esteem. There aren't too many who will see themselves in the "gorgeous' role, especially the real beauty's.

It is better to describe their attributes, values, character traits that you admire and most importantly, how you want to 'feel' in a relationship.

Profiles however are not all about "WHO YOU WANT", but also 'WHO YOU ARE'!  It is vital that you let a women know who the real man is, what he really enjoys doing rather than what you think a women wants to hear.

EVERYONE says that they like to hold hands and walk down the beach at sunset, but unless you actually LIVE by the beach, then this statement is really moot. Rather, talk about what you would do daily, weekly or monthly if you were with someone.
 

I can't tell you how many guys have a picture of them with a FISH for one of their profile shots.To be honest, it doesn't impress us. However, 4 great shots, at least 3 closeup enough to see your face and recent enough that you still look like that, works wonders.
