Join the Unstoppable Frankie Picasso on Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 for another Mission Unstoppable, www.blogtalkradio.com/missionunstoppable at 8:00 pm est, where we will be joined by my guest, David Rosenberg, Director of Operations for JACS, Jewish Addiction Community Services.
David is not just an administrator, he is also a recovering Crack Addict who credits JACS with saving his life and helping him heal his relationships with his children, his parents and his ex-wife.
DAvid was the CEO of a well known business, and at 38, he seemed to have it all. Three kids, a wife of 10 years, and a 6 figure crack habit that after 3 years nearly killed him. With his business failing, David's insecurities surfaced and with them, an escalating need for escape.
After finding himself near deaths door with septic pneumonia, David recovered enough to leave the hosptial and resume his habit. As he says, "
“I never had problems quitting crack, I must have quit two thousand times, I had problems not starting again. It’s a disease that told me I didn’t have a disease so I kept saying I can lick it and of course that was a deception, which is part of the disease.”
When he finally had enough, he sought treatment, and learned that he did in fact have a disease. Today he treats that disease while he helps others recover control over their lives.
If you don't think that drugs can touch your world, think again. According to David, “Addiction affects every demographic without discrimination,”. It affects every socio economic group in the same way, it affects those who have troubled backgrounds and nurturing backgrounds equally, this disease affects the whdole human race equally"
