Jimi Calhoun’s A Story of Rhythm and Grace,: What the Church Can Learn from Rock and Roll about Healing the Racial Divide

On Tuesday July 21, 2009 at 8:00pm EDT, join the Unstoppable Frankie Picasso for a Special 90 minute Mission Unstoppable Radio show featuring legendary bassist, Evangical minister and author of A Story of Rhythm and Grace,: What the Church Can Learn from Rock and Roll about Healing the Racial Divide, Mr. Jimi Calhoun.
As a professional musician during the 60' and 70's, , Jimi Calhoun was a basist for some pretty heavy hitters. He has played and shared the World stage with Rock n roll's elite members and if you look at the list below, chances are you will recognize many if not ALL of their names.
For many of us, this would be a dream come true. I mean who doesn't want to be a Rock Star, but Jimi left this world willingly for another, one that was actually less tolerant of who he was as a man, and a human being, Jimi joined the ministry to serve God and as a pastor he states " it seems my skin color caused more disquiet within the evangelical community than in the world of popular culture".
Through the medium of his book, Jimi uses his experiences in both arenas to help readers dissect racial relation issues. As he interweaves personal stories with reflections on race, Jimi invites and challenges Christians to reach out for racial healing and reconciliation and offers hope for racial harmony in the church and in the broader culture.

Out of curiosity…
What exactly makes Latayne Scott an “authority on Mormonism?”
Just being one?
Because even I qualify on that score.

Dear Seth,
Latayne is the author of 15 books and one specifically entitled, The Mormon Mirage. She has been honored by Pepperdine University with its “Distinguished Christian Service Award for Creative Christian Writing, so I have included her in the discussion.
May I ask why you wrote your comment? Frankie
